“National Drink With Your Cat Week” Is Real and It’s Happening Right Now

If you thought that — this being February — all of winter’s best holidays had passed, you would be sorely mistaken.

Earlier this week, KABC reported the 3rd full week of February 2018 was in fact “National Drink Wine With Your Cat Week,” a brand-new fête where it’s not only accepted, but fully encouraged, to curl up with your cat and your favorite merlot.

This fresh observance is actually a fusion of two equally-worthy holidays — National Drink Wine Day and National Love Your Pet Day – both of which took place earlier this week.

Marketers have even developed feline-friendly vintage, which helps distinguish this official celebration from any old working week. Now Amazon’s virtual shelves are stocked with Pinot Meow, White Kittendel and classic Purrgundy. There’s even Meow-mosas and Pawty Packs, all booze-free beverages cats will find delicious, owing to their winning formulations of catnip and fish-oil.

National Drink Wine With Your Cat Week is the holiday we’ve been waiting for, but it also poses some unanswered questions — can we drink more wine in the presence of multiple cats? Are we bad pet owners if we drink wine and just open Fluffy a can of tuna? Regardless, this late winter-break presents another opportunity to bond with your favorite feline, while assigning holiday spin to an unspoken tradition we’ve been practicing for years.
