When we think of brave pets, dogs are usually the first animal to come to mind. It’s not poor thinking, dogs tend to be quite brave by nature.
However, we shouldn’t discount cats. Though they may be small, some of them can possess quite the “cattitude” when it comes to threats to their homes or loved ones.
In a video from British Columbia, Canada, you can see just how brave some cats can be. The now-viral video shows a coyote getting scared off by one tough kitty.
The video was captured by the Port Moody Police Department. The clip shows a coyote wandering around the parking lot around 4 in the morning. Then, out of nowhere, a black cat emerges from beneath a parked car and chases the coyote away.

After posting the video to their department’s Twitter, the police force wrote, “The things our patrol officers see at 4am… cat 1, coyote 0. #portmoody #neveradullmoment @PMPDcat.”
Since being shared, the video has been viewed over 20,000 times, with a lot of people commenting on the cat’s actions. Someone made a joke about Wile E. Coyote versus Sylvester, while someone else admitted, “This is why I prefer cats to dogs.”
However, there were a few concerns from people in the comments saying that the coyote could’ve been working with a pack and was trying to lure the cat away into an ambush. Coyotes have been known to do that, but fortunately, the police department followed up these concerns saying that the cat was fine.
In fact, they shared a follow-up message saying, “We followed the lone coyote out of the area. And the same cat was seen doing it’s [sic] rounds in the parking lot again this early morning!”
