People Refused To Touch This Cat. But When A Lady Walked By His Cage, He Stuck Out His Paw For Help

Valentino was in such bad shape, that he barely resembled a cat. His fur was hardened with dirt, he had severe sarcoptic mange, and his eyes were so caked and swollen that they were sealed shut.

Because of his filthy appearance, no one wanted to even touch poor Valentino. That is, until a woman named Elaine Seamans laid eyes on him while passing by his cage at the Baldwin Park animal shelter.

While she was walking by, she heard a faint cry. She turned and saw Valentino reaching out of his cage with his little paw, while letting out a tiny meow. It was like he was pleading for her to help him.

“There are times when it’s not an option to keep walking,” Seamans told The Dodo. “You just have to stop. This was one of those times.”

Seamans didn’t care what condition Valentino was in. She grabbed him right out of that cage and held him close to her chest. He put his head on her shoulder, and in that moment, Seamans knew she had to get him out of that shelter.

She called Toby Wisneski, founder of Leave No Paws Behind, and let him hear Valentino’s cry for help. He agreed to pick Valentino up and took him to a veterinary clinic.

He couldn’t move and he couldn’t see. But God love him, he’s a fighter,” Wisneski told The Dodo. “Everybody just adores him and they’re very protective of him.”

Valentino’s issues are nothing that can’t be treated. Thankfully, he is in good health and has many years ahead of him.

Despite what he’s been through, he is such a loving and friendly cat. It’s clear that is he very grateful to have been rescued. “He will purr for them and try to rub up against [veterinary staff]. He knows he is safe,” Wisneski told The Dodo.
