Clever Cat Learns To Press A Button For Treats

Teaching new tricks to a pet may seem like second nature to dog owners but not so much to cat owners.

While most people don’t think to teach tricks to cats, they’re actually quite clever and capable of learning!

There’s even one cat that learned to perform 26 tricks in one minute. Quite impressive!

But even for less ambitious cats and owners, it’s possible to work with a simple trick or skill that might even come in handy.

Pet owner and animal enthusiast Emi decided to try to teach her cat, Hubble, how to push a button to activate a treat dispenser. It’s a simple trick, but not all cats are that motivated to perform.

Emi documented the teaching process on TikTok so other cat owners could learn and follow along. Maybe it’ll inspire others to teach their own felines!

In the clip, Emi breaks down each of the 5 steps she used to teach Hubble how to use the treat dispenser, starting with getting him to associate the button with food and gradually working up to getting him to press the button in exchange for food!

“He gets it!” she wrote at the end of the video. “He now presses the button all the way from upstairs! He doesn’t have constant access to it but it gets him moving.”
