Take A Road Trip Across The USA With Your Dogs In This Custom Built Pet-Friendly Van

There is nothing quite like taking an epic road trip during the summer months. Those road trips are even better when you can bring along your pet.

Bringing a pet on a road trip can be awesome, but it can also be stressful. If you don’t have somebody who will watch the dog or if you just can’t stand to be without them, you might want to consider the ideal road trip van that will make everything better.

Jack Richens is a British designer and blogger of This Moving House. He was able to take a 2015 Volkswagen Crafter and transform it into a solar powered, customized home on wheels.

Richens designed this fan for a client who traveled regularly with her two canines. Inside of the van are two dog kennels, a single bed for a human and a pullout guest bed. It also includes a working kitchen with a grill, stove, mini-fridge, sink. It also has a portable toilet. The front cab includes three swivel seats to optimize comfort.

In other words, if you are going to be traveling the country with your dogs, then this van offers it all.

“The owner is thrilled and has been taking the van to dog shows around the country,” Richens told Simplemost. “Requests for more dog van builds have been flooding in, which is good news.”

A full-size bed is not possible in the van because of space restrictions. There is still room for two people, however, thanks to the double twin beds. You can even pop the top to look up at the stars while you are drifting off to sleep.

What’s the Bottom Line?

A customized fan like this one may have a cost of anywhere from $10,500 – $15,000. The cost may not include labor.

If you are looking for a way to enjoy the freedom of the open road and not leave your dogs behind, this may be the best choice to make. You don’t have to worry about paying high prices at ‘pet friendly’ hotels and your dogs enjoy the adventure with you.

It also allows you to travel without worrying about the strict rules being implemented by airlines. It’s a win-win for you and your furry travel companions.
