Modern owners get to do more and more with their dogs. Growing numbers of offices allow pet owners to bring their pooches to work. Hotels more regularly include at least one pet-friendly room in their stable of offerings. And restaurants and bars increasingly welcome pets with their humans, often with dog-friendly menus crafted exclusively for the growing numbers of furry companions in tow.
So, it was just a matter of time before somebody conceived of a cinema where humans could bring their well-behaved pooches. K-9 Cinemas in Plano, Texas, just enhanced the thrill of going out to the movies, which isn’t nearly as fun when you have to leave your best friend behind.
The weekend pop-up will focus on classic films, at least for now, inside a private event space, that offers enough room for movie-goers accompanied by up to two pets, who can access the facility with a $5 Pup Child Ticket. (Adults/kids tickets cost $12.50/$9, respectively).
Canine cinephiles will also be asked to show valid papers proving that they’re healthy pooches up-to-date on their vaccines upon their first visit, sort of like how their humans are carded at the bar (which in this case is technically BYOB). Everyone, with the exception of the humans, will be asked to wear leashes but, on the plus side, all of the concessions, which naturally include dog treats, are only $2. It seems like a steal in 2018!
