Family Surrenders Puppy Covered In ‘Magic Marker’

Having a puppy is a major responsibility. It’s not like you can just bring home a puppy and integrate them into the household without a problem.

There is a lot of work that goes into caring for a puppy, and if you have children, then you need to make sure that they understand that a puppy isn’t a toy, it’s a living being that should be treated with care and respect.

That is why, when bringing a puppy into a household, it is always a good idea to really think about the decision about to be made, because once you get a puppy, you’re committing to several decades of care.

Unfortunately, not everyone thinks through such a big decision and commitment. Some people, unfortunately, will just rush into adding a puppy to their home, and that is when things don’t turn out quite as expected.

For one rescuer, Mr. Asher with The Asher House, he was very surprised by one surrender in particular.

The surrendering of a puppy named Poppy was one like he’d never seen before. According to Asher, the family that had surrendered Poppy had initially bought the puppy for their kids. But according to the family, the puppy was not what they expected.

And according to Asher, the poor dog was traumatized – the kids had painted all over her with magic marker! He knew that this was one rescue that was going to take some time to heal.

He took her home and gave her a bath, letting her rest before allowing the other dogs to meet her. It took some time for Poppy to adjust, but she eventually came out of her shell and became more herself. It was so heartwarming to witness!
