AirBnB Guest Steals CatJ. Swanson
Savvy travelers rightly consider AirBnB a bargain. However, one overeager traveler accidentally mistook the platform’s cost savings to include the family cat.
At first, AirBnB host Max Woodward didn’t find anything about coming home to find General Tzo missing. The friendly indoor/outdoor cat spent lots of time playing outside, so Woodward initially guessed the 8-year-old feline was just making his daily rounds in their San Antonio neighborhood.
But when the cat didn’t come home, Woodward started to get concerned, eventually so much so that he posted missing cat fliers around his neighborhood and on Facebook. When neither effort yielded returns, Woodward decided to review his security footage, which revealed a major surprise.
On October 11, Woodward’s had received an AirBNB guest, who some spent time playing with the friendly feline. (This Woodward had already gathered from a pile of cat treats left behind on the floor).
Judging from the cat’s regular mentions in the review section, General Tzo likes to play with all of Woodward’s guests. What made this visit different, however, was that the visitor mistook the animal for a neighborhood stray, which could have something to do with the fact that the cat wasn’t wearing a collar.
But when said guest checked out the following morning, he apparently decided to take General Tzo with him. Security footage (which you can watch in the video below) reveals a rather surprised looking feline being carried out to a waiting car.
Fortunately, this cat-napping has a happy ending. When Woodward finally tracked down the traveler, the guest admitted he’d mistaken the cat for a neighborhood stray and quickly arranged to bring General Tzo back home.
Of course, the situation could have possibly been avoided if General Tzo was microchipped or wearing a collar. Hopefully, both will factor into the cat’s next adventure.
