Of those polled, most have seen their animal swallow something that could pose a health risk, on average, five times. More than three quarters of pet parents are likely to panic when that happens. About half of them will call a veterinarian, while a slightly smaller amount will take their pet to the vet immediately.
With all those vet bills adding up, only 28 percent of those polled had health insurance that covered their pets. And, nearly half of the participants indicated that vet visits are too costly or too far away to consider.
If you suspect your pet has an urgent medical need, do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian. It could mean the difference between your pet living in comfort, living with pain, or living at all.
