If you don’t already listen to, and love, Spotify, then here is a great reason to sign up with the music streaming service: They are launching a new feature, which creates the perfect playlist for your pet!
This is great news because we all know that our pets love music too. And thanks to Spotify’s new playlist generator, Spotify for Pets, our pets will be able to enjoy music even more. The generator will algorithmically create a playlist based on the type of animal you have.
Not only does it go by the type of pet you have, but it will also take into account your pet’s attitude. This means that depending on the key word, be it “shy” or “friendly,” “apathetic” or “curious,” “relaxed” or “energetic,” it will ensure that the music aligns to fit your pet’s personality traits.
In addition, you can also add your pet’s name and picture to the playlist, and from there, Spotify will put together a range of suitable songs. The streaming platform will also sync the playlist to your account, meaning there will be something for everyone on it.
The feature was announced by Spotify on Wednesday, January 15. It noted that a whopping 71% of the pet owners who’ve been surveyed already play music for their pets.

According to their online survey taken by 5,000 music-streaming pet lovers across the US, UK, Australia, Italy, and Spain, 8 in 10 pet owners believe their animals like music. This could also be an indication of how successful the new Spotify venture will be.
In addition, their research found that 69% of pet owners sing to their pets while 57% dance with them. The research also found that almost 1 in 5 pet owners has named their pets off a music artist or group – with names like Bob Marley, Elvis, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, and Ozzy Osbourne being some of the favorites.
In order to get started, all you need to do is visit Spotify’s Pet Playlists website and choose from the five pet options: a dog, cat, bird, hamster, and iguana.
Once selected, the next step is to tell the streaming service a little bit about your pet in order to “help [them] pick the playlist vibe.” Then you can and a photo and you are finished – Spotify will take care of the rest.
And once that is all complete the last thing needed is to get your pet, turn on the playlist, and enjoy the music together.
