A Portuguese woman went for a walk on a 110-degree summer day when she heard cries coming from somewhere nearby. At first she thought it was a bird, but because of the scorching heat, there were none in the area.
That’s when she discovered a tiny kitten trapped between a building and an electrical post. The kitten’s head was stuck in the junction between the top side and the bottom side of the post and was hanging only by his head.
It’s unknown how the kitty got into that situation, but the woman knew she had to do something immediately to help. She called the local fire department who quickly arrive to the scene.
When they first saw the cat, they thought he was dead. But he was alive, just barely hanging on. They tried putting oil on the kitten and pushing him out with a broomstick, but it didn’t work. They came to the conclusion that the only solution was to move the electrical post.
They then called the police who created a perimeter around the street to give them more room. Eventually, the firemen were able to use their tools to move the post enough for the kitten to get out.
