Shelter Dog Begs Everyone For Love As They Pass His Kennel

A longtime shelter dog begs not for treats or toys, but for the love and affection of humans.

Speck, a two-year-old Border Collie mix, has spent the last year and a half at Bullock County Humane Society. The sweet boy has been patiently waiting for a forever home and loves everyone he meets. While he gets along well with dogs and cats, he absolutely adores people.

He craves their attention and love. “He literally just wants you to hold his hand. He is going to make a wonderful pet to someone,” posted Desiray Miracle-Wilder, the director at the Bullock County Humane Society.

The love bug was continually overlooked by adopters until a video of him went viral. Desiray was making her rounds and cleaning kennels when she captured Speck reaching through his kennel begging for attention. She recorded Speck wrapping his paws around her arms and holding on to it for dear life.

His tail was wagging and he was trying his best to fit between the bars to be close to her. Thousands saw the video and it didn’t take long for a family to fall in love.

Speck has a family lined up to adopt him and the shelter posted the exciting news to their Facebook page. “Speck has a rescue Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue that already has a FUR EVER home lined up for him! He will be running a 26 acre farm with Mike, his family, and 2 fur brothers! We are so excited.”

The only problem is the family is located out of state, so the shelter is currently looking for help with his transport. Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue posted, “WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO GET SPECK TO NEW YORK!‼️
AHFP has been working on coordinating a volunteer pilot flight with Pilots N Paws (PilotsNPaws.org). BUT nothing is set in stone and we NEED volunteer drivers, volunteer Big Rig truckers, and/or volunteer pilots to get Speck to his new home!” Anyone who can help is asked to contact the rescue.

“Not only did Speck get adopted due to this video of his cuteness but he also helped a few other fur babies get rescued and he got us some food donations! My heart is so full from all of the love everyone has shared and all of the messages wanting to give Speck a home or help however they can,” wrote Desiray.
