Palm Bay Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a house fire in Palm Bay, but didn’t expect to save a kitten.
A video has gone viral of firefighters trying to resuscitate a kitten that they just rescued from a burning home. The owner ran back into the home to save her beloved cat. The fire department arrived and firefighters entered the home when they heard the owner was still inside.
One of the firefighters said he heard a meow and scooped up the cat as they rescued the owner. The woman was sent to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. The sweet kitten, nicknamed “smokey” by the firefighter, was given oxygen.
The mask used to provide the oxygen to the kitten is designed specifically for pets. Thankfully, the fire department had one. The cat is now recovering at a neighbors home until his mother is released from the hospital.
