Sleeping Beauty’s Briar Rose Lives On, and She Wants to Meet You

Hello all! This is Briar Rose, a sweet domestic medium-hair kitty who’s not yet 3 years old. She’s currently living in a Virginia shelter waiting for her Prince (or princess) Charming to wake her from her slumber and whisk her away after a gentle kiss on the nose. This is her story:

“I’m the beautiful Briar Rose. I do live up to my namesake from the movie Sleeping Beauty. I love to sunbathe, stretch out and snooze, and occasionally play with toys (especially ones that make that crinkle sound!). I also love to soak up some affection from my humans, whether purring away on your lap, next to you on the couch, or getting a few pets wherever I happen to be perched.

If you’re looking for a laidback lady to add some character to your home and keep you company without being super clingy, then I’m your gal.

I’d be perfect for a family who wants a fairly calm cat who likes to enjoy the finer things in life, namely a comfy blanket in the sun. I have great manners around my food and litterbox, not that you should expect anything less of a princess.

Personally, I think I’d do best in a home with older kids or adults only, as while I love to get pets when lounging on the couch with you, a lady also likes her space and a bit of “me time” whenever possible. I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a diva, because I’m not.

I’d love to meet you in person and show you my fabulous personality firsthand (I’ll even wake up for some attention). If you would like to meet me, please drop by the shelter or submit an application and we can set up a time. I so hope to see my purrfect family soon! BTW, I’m also foster eligible.

Here’s a very special poem about me written by a sixth grade student from J. Michael Lunsford Middle School. I’m so honored they wrote it!

I’m named after Sleeping Beauty, I’m as beautiful as her. I have the manners and the grace, my name is Briar Rose. I am not very clingy, and I surely do not sleep for hundreds of years, but I still love to cuddle, stretch out and snooze. I love to sunbathe, yet my fur is white as snow. Anytime you need me, I’ll give you company. I love comfy blankets, and I have a fabulous personality!
