People are in love with a rescue pit bull who has the most contagious smile.
The 6-year-old pit bull named Shortcake was rescued by the Fresno Bully Rescue, where she was eventually adopted out and found a loving forever home.
Since then, Shortcake has become quite the social media and amassed an Instagram following of over 191,000 followers. Her Instagram bio reads, “First of Her Name, Queen of Belly Rubs, Breaker of Gas, Mother of Naps, Eater of Poo.
6yrsold. Saved by @FresnoBullyRescue now living that SoCal life.”
Gaining such a social media following sounds like quite the challenge, but once you see her adorable smile it’s easy to see how she found so many loyal fans.

Shortcake’s owner, Amy Matsushima, shared with Daily Mail that her rescue pup first arrived at the rescue with “severe mange and a hernia.”
She explained that the Fresno Bully Rescue didn’t actually have space for another dog when Shortcake needed help, but they decided to take her in any way. She said, “there was something about her picture that they couldn’t say no to, so they pulled her into the rescue.”
In an interview with Good Morning America, Matsushima shared that she saw Shortcake and she “looked miserable but she was wagging her tail and she did have that little smile on her face. It just hit me in my heart and I was like, ‘Oh, I have to meet this dog.'”
She added, “I’m not sure why she smiles so much. I can’t make her do it on cue. She’ll do it when she’s sleeping, riding in the car, [or] doing something she’s not supposed to do.”
Despite her rough start to life, Shortcake seems to always have a reason to smile. Check out some of her adorable photos below:
