From Rough Seas to Smooth Sailing: Meet Captain

Captain is a Pitbull who captured the hearts of everyone at the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC). He was transferred to us from a local shelter nearby. Right away, our medical team could tell from his intake examination that he had a troubled past. With his missing eye and gritty texture found on his front leg, further examination was needed. His radiographs showed that Captain had been shot three times in his head and there was pellet spray from a shotgun in his chin and legs. The staff at HSSC were horrified by the brutality this lovable pittie had been subjected to.

Despite his tragic circumstances, Captain brought a smile to everyone he met. This adorable gentle grey giant made up of muscle and metal brought his inspiring excitement for life everywhere he went. This pup paraded around the shelter with confidence and care, giving kisses to anyone that would accept them! He could always be found with a stuffed animal in his mouth when he was strutting around the shelter. The kindness and resilience of this Pitbull moved everyone at the shelter.

It didn’t take long for Captain to attract the attention of adopters who recognized a one-of-a-kind dog when they saw him. Captain found his first mates and is now sailing off into the sunset to enjoy his fur-ever home.
