Look What Movie And Music Stars Are Doing To Help Animals Left Homeless After Hurricanes Harvey, Irma

Though North America may be in the grip of fire and rain, Americans are still as kind and caring as ever.

We’ve seen a nationwide outpouring of assistance over the past few weeks aimed at those left homeless by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Both humans and their pets have been displaced by the hurricanes, and, in many cases, pets have either been left behind or gone missing.

Shelters near the worst-affected areas are already overcrowded, so groups like GreaterGood are swooping in to transport animals in need to other shelters around the country. Ordinary citizens are stepping in to help, too.

Well, maybe not that ordinary.

Liev Schreiber, star of Showtime’s Ray Donovan and Sabertooth in the X-Men films, recently adopted a pair of shelter dogs from the Houston area after appearing alongside them on an episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan. The dogs were on the show with others from Home for Good Dogs Rescue in New Jersey, which had sent some much-needed supplies to Texas before returning with 20 homeless dogs, IHeartDogs reports.

Schreiber contacted his two sons for a surprise video chat backstage and let them pick out the dogs.

Country music star Miranda Lambert has given some hope to a few new furry friends as well. The “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer helped rescue more than 100 dogs from shelters around the flooded Houston area, working with the MuttNation Foundation.

Lambert even adopted one of the dogs herself. Ashley gave birth to puppies shortly after finding her new forever home.
