Firefighters Hear Loud Whining Noises Coming From Under Burning Shed And Find 8 Puppies

Colleton County Fire-Rescue responded to an “out of control” yard fire in Jacksonboro, South Carolina, but never expected to rescue a litter of puppies.

Firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames that had engulfed a wooden shed that originated from a yard trash fire. As they began to battle the fire, they heard a “loud whining noise” that appeared to be coming from under the burning shed.

“Upon investigation they found seven puppies under the burning building and rescued the pups. Firefighter-Paramedics moved the puppies to Fire-Rescue Medic 6 and began treating them for smoke inhalation. Crews warmed them up and placed them in towels and were able to revive all seven and get them moving around again,” stated the department in a press release.

The crew was finally able to extinguish the fire, but the building was a total loss. Among the debris was an eighth puppy who was revived and cared for by rescuers.

All the puppies were treated for smoke inhalation but survived the fire without being burned. The owner of the property claimed they had no idea there were puppies under the shed.

Colleton County Animal Services stepped up to care for the puppies until they are ready to be adopted.

The heroes were praised for their quick actions in putting out the fire and rescuing the puppies. Colleton County Fire-Rescue tweeted, “Great job by Stations 2, 6, & 9 yesterday on Campbell Hill Rd in Jacksonboro. Not only did they quickly bring the structure fire under control, but they saved these 8 puppies that were under the building and suffered from smoke inhalation.”

They are proving once again that not all heroes wear capes.
