When puppies are born, the babies usually nurse with their mother before being adopted into different families. But heartwarming photos of a brother and sister dog hugging during a chance encounter suggest that litter mates always remember their siblings, even when they grow up to live in separate homes.
An English woman named Libby Pincher recently posted a heartwarming picture taken by her father’s friend, Dave, whose poodle just happened to reunite with his dog sister on a walk.
“There was a couple walking towards him with a white version of his dog,” Libby’s dad texted his daughter, along with two photos of the cute family reunion. “Turns out they are brother and sister from the same litter.”
Brother and sister sniffed each other in greeting, and then both stood up to wrap their long-lost sibling in a loving bear hug. “Instead of just playing like they do with other dogs, look at this,” Libby’s father said, marveling at how the dogs had jumped up to wrap each other in a human-style embrace. Clearly, this is a gesture reserved for long-lost family. Its almost as if the siblings realized the usual sniffing and tail wagging just wouldn’t do.
“‘Pls look at what my dad sent me this morning I cannot even,” Libby captioned the photos on Twitter, where they struck a chord with thousands of people desperate for some happy news amid the ongoing pandemic.
“Omg. This is too much,” one user gushed. “This warmed my heart,” another user agreed.
“Omg that has just made my day so much better,” a third person added.
