After losing my Lab in the fall, I knew I needed another dog in my life. In January, I saw a picture of “Mocha”, and I just felt she was the one. However, at that time, my family was about to be extremely busy with baseball and travel. I didn’t feel the timing would be fair to bring in a new dog and have to leave her alone so much.

I rechecked the shelter a week later and she had been adopted, so I figured it wasn’t meant to be. In April, I was curious what was available, and she was back! Apparently, an older couple felt she was too much for them to handle and returned her. My family was still not ready to bring her home, so I just kept watching.

In May, she was gone again but returned in June! They had sent her off for training. I would check in weekly and see if she was still there. It was bittersweet to see she was still waiting each week. As soon as our last baseball game completed, I went to the shelter to meet her.

She had lots of energy, but I just knew she was supposed to be with me. I came back the next day to take her home! Curious, I investigated her background. She had come up from Texas after being moved around in shelters down south. Originally she was found tied to a fence by a school with a small baggie of food and two milk bone treats.

It breaks my heart to think of her past and journey to my home. It is sad to think she sat for so long because she had some behaviors people were concerned about, such as aggression to other dogs and needing to be the only one in the home. Now, she lives with another dog, loves people and most other dogs! She truly was a victim of her situation and many people missed out on an amazing pup!

She is forever loved, and I will never abandon her. I encourage everyone to adopt and give a dog a chance!
