Woman Throws Sweet 16 Party For Her Beloved Rescue Cat

Turning 16 is a big deal, especially if you’re a cat.

Animals age faster than humans, so a 16-year-old cat is equivalent to an 80-year-old human. Maloray Powell rescued her beloved cat, Emma, when she was just a kitten. The pair have been through a lot over the years and she wanted to celebrate Emma’s birthday in a grand way, so she threw her a sweet 16 birthday party.

She hired a photographer to capture the special day and dressed the birthday girl in a colorful tutu and glitter crown. Emma was spoiled with new toys and lots of hugs and kisses from her mom and dad. Like most cats, Emma loves food and so the best gift was a fish-flavored cake.

“Once she saw the salmon pâté on the cake she didn’t care about the photographer, equipment, tiara and tutu,” Powell told The Dodo.

The cake was made out of “tuna, catnip, & wheat. The fondant is real fondant I believe. She didn’t actually eat any of the cake. I scooped fishy pate on top to trick her! That’s what she is eating,” revealed her mom.

Emma happily devoured her special treat but when she realized there wasn’t any more snacks, she left. While the party was brief, photographer Kari Ann Morris was able to capture many adorable photos for the family to enjoy.

The photos of Emma’s sweet 16 party are going viral and Morris is pleasantly surprised. She posted, “I am shocked how much attention this is getting 💞 what a great idea you had Maloray‼️”

Cats and dogs enhance our lives so much that spoiling them on their birthday is the least we can do. We would love to see how you spoiled your pet. Share your photos in the comments.
