Red, White, & Blue Dog Treat Recipes

Summer holidays can be stressful for dogs due to fireworks and other loud noises. That is why we decided to come up with a list of tasty snacks to give them for being such a good boy or girl.

Celebrate summer and all the patriotic holidays by whipping up some red, white, and blue treats for Fido. The following treats look so good you will want to try one – and can. Plus, they are loaded with superfoods.

They are super easy to make and require only a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your fridge. Win-win!

Let’s get started…

Patriotic Dog Bone Treats

Spoiled Hounds shared a recipe that two whippets named Luke and Milo love. Instead of combining the flavors this recipe keeps the red, white, and blue ingredients separate for three different treats. WOOF!

Materials:

2-cup Liquid Measuring Cup
Dry Measuring Cups
Blender
Small Silicone Dog Treat Molds or Small Ice Cube Trays

Ingredients:

2 13-ounce cans Lite Coconut Milk
1 cup Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
1 cup Fresh or Frozen Blueberries

Get the detailed instructions here. This recipe makes roughly 50 treats, and they can be stored in the freezer and served all summer long.

Fruit Paw-sicles

Watermelon is delicious and 92% water to help rehydrate you and Fido on those hot summer days. Add in a banana and/or blueberries and you have a tasty and nutritious treat. You can simply give your dog a chunk of fresh watermelon (with no seeds or rind) or try making these frozen treats.

Materials:

Blender
Silicone mold
Airtight container

Ingredients:

3 cups chopped seedless watermelon
1 banana
handful of blueberries

Instructions:

1. Add watermelon and banana to blender and puree.
2. Place a blueberry or two in each treat.
3. Pour watermelon puree into ice trays or silicone molds.
4. Put in freezer until frozen (3-4 hours).
5. Pop them out of the molds and feed to Fido.
6. Try one yourself 😉
7. Store any leftovers in airtight container in your freezer.
