Today Is National Hug Your Cat Day!

Today, June 4, is anything but an ordinary Monday.

It’s also National Hug Your Cat Day, a full 24 hours devoted to snuggling with your favorite feline. In case you don’t have a cat, book an appointment at your local cat café. Better yet, consider adoption – then you’ll have a cat to cuddle every day of the year.

Nobody really knows the origins of National Hug Your Cat Day and, unfortunately, it’s not yet officially sanctioned as a paid holiday. (We’re working on it).

However, we are happy to report that hugging your cats also offers some important health benefits, including reduced anxiety and stress, decreased blood pressure, and a lessened risk of heart attack and stroke.

In the event you won’t be able to hug a real cat today, we’ve also included an adorable cat video below. In lieu of actual felines, cat-inspired media has got to be next best thing.
