Stray dogs are wary of people and tend to run when they approach, even if they are there to help.

Hope for Paws received a call about a stray little dog that had been living on the streets for some time. The rescue team, Loreta and Eldad, came upon the little dog and slowly approached. They offered tasty food and kept their distance to show the scared dog that they were friendly.

Loreta sat in the grass and talked softly to the dog as she tossed him some food. She attempted to capture the dog with a gentle snare but missed. The little dog decided to run and ended up crossing a busy road, where he was almost hit by a car.

The rescuers jumped in their car to pursue the dog, but from a distance to keep him from running. The chase started out in a neighborhood, but soon the stray pup started to head toward the park. Rescuers were afraid they would lose him if he entered the park, so they intervened.

With a snare in hand, they leaped from the vehicle and attempted once more to catch the dog. He escaped again, but this time ran down a sidewalk and up a driveway. At this point, the team had been following the dog for over an hour. They assumed he was getting tired. Eldad quickly ran up the driveway as the dog was about to escape and managed to capture him in the net.

They spoke softly and stroked the exhausted dog, which they named Raffi. The little dog was given a bath and examined by a vet. Smooch Pooch Rescue offered to take him in and find him a loving forever home. He is still available and would love to find a home that is calm. He is shy around strangers and would need time to warm up. He loves other dogs and would do best in a home that already has dogs. Contact the rescue if you are interested in offering this adorable dog a forever home.
