Nestlé-Purina has just issued a voluntary recall on a number of their wet dog food tubs due to lack of nutrition. The lines being recalled don't have the recommended vitamins and minerals found in normal dog food. This recall includes specific lots of Beneful Prepared Meals, Beneful Chopped Blends, and Pro Plan Savory Meals (complete list below).
In their press release, Purina addressed their findings, “We discovered through our own internal quality tests that some 10-oz. wet dog food tubs may not contain the recommended level of added vitamins and minerals, so we took action and issued a voluntary recall of the product at retail.”
While the food isn't dangerous per say, dogs who gain most of their nutrition from any of these products could be severely impacted over the long term. Purina is offering a refund to anyone with the affected product. You can find more details on Purina's website.
