We each have our own unique quirks that make us who we are, and the same is true of our pets.
One adorable little pug can be seen showing off his unique habit of walking up the stairs, and the Internet can’t get enough.
In the video, you can see the pug getting ready to tackle to trip up the stairs. He doesn’t start with his front paws like a dog typically would, however, instead, he turns around and gets himself ready to walk backward.
He lifts his back legs onto the first step, but then spins around and uses his front legs for the next step. Then, he spins around again and uses his back legs! He continues to rotate, taking one step with his back legs first, followed by a step with his front legs first.
The walk he creates up the stairs looks like he’s twirling or spinning in circles. It’s adorable and hilarious, but it also begs the question: Is everything ok with the little pup for him to walk this way? It’s definitely not the “normal” way a dog would walk up the stairs.
According to PETSOID, dogs walk backwards for a variety of reasons, including injury, anxiety, and neurological problems, like Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome.
Typically, when a dog walks backward, they continue to walk backward and won’t rotate from the back to the front, as the dog in the video does. That makes the pup’s behavior even stranger and more unique!
