A pit bull mix with a beautiful gray brindled coat arrived at Del Norte Animal Control on July 27th, 2017 and has been patiently waiting ever since for someone to pick him.
While he is named Lucky, he hasn’t had any luck finding a loving forever home. The staff and volunteers adore him and don’t understand why no one has adopted him.
“Blind in one eye due to an injury acquired early on in life, he is constantly winking at the ladies and winning them over with his good looks and charm,” wrote the rescue.
For the past 1,068 days, Lucky has watched people pass by his kennel and see countless other dogs find loving homes. Each day he hopes it will be his turn. He is a strong and silent type who needs a little time to warm up to people, but once he does he is the most loyal and loving boy.
“A bit reserved at first, Lucky takes his time to get to know you before he offers his undying devotion, but once you’ve gained his trust he’ll be your brave protector for life and show you what a goofy puppy he can be,” wrote staff on his Petfinder profile.
The staff desperately wants to find Lucky a loving home and said, “To think that for a majority of Lucky’s life he has been alone at our shelter due to no fault of his own is devastating.”
Don’t let his looks fool you, he is a young and friendly dog. Although his face appears to be gray, he is estimated to be 4 or 5 years old.
Lucky is not only adorable but acts like a perfect gentleman. He walks well on a leash, is house-trained, knows how to sit, and gently takes treats. The only thing missing is a family to call his own.
His perfect home would be one where he is the only pet and preferably no small children. He promises to be the best boy and give you so much love that you will not need or want another pet. However, the shelter is open to meet and greets.
He is patiently waiting in Crescent City, California, and anyone interested in adopting him is asked to reach out to Del Norte Animal Control at (707) 464-7235. If you are looking for a best friend, head to your local animal shelter and adopt a dog or cat!
