Ping Pong only has three legs, but what he lacks in mobility, he makes up for in heart.
The dog is now a hero for saving the life of a newborn baby who had been buried alive.
According to the Guardian, a 15-year-old girl, scared of being disowned by her family for getting pregnant, buried the baby in a shallow pit in Ban Nong Kham village, in Cham Phuang district, northeast of Bangkok. Ping Pong knew something was strange about the mound of dirt, and after much digging, exposed the babies legs before others helped pull it out of the earth.
The mother of the child was charged with attempted murder.
“Police officers are preparing to prosecute the mother, but she is also a child and we must consider her mind and be professional. It is important that she is nurtured and treated fairly,” said Wichian Chantharanothai, governor of the Nakhon Ratchasima area.
“The girl is now in the care of a psychologist and her parents because she is in great fear,” said Lieutenant colonel Panuwat Puttakam, of Cham Phuang police. “She regrets what she did and said she acted on impulse without thinking it through. She feared her parents would find out she had been pregnant.”

The baby was alive when the townspeople found it. At just 5.2 pounds, it was in immediate need of care, and taken to a nearby hospital.
The family of the 15 year old has offered to care for the baby but, as the Independent reports, authorities have not yet decided whether to allow that.
Ping Pong’s owner, Usa Nisaika, 41, is quite proud of his dog.
“I heard a dog barking and a baby crying in a cassava plantation, so I went there to check,” he said. “The dog was digging up a dirt pile and the baby’s legs emerged.
“Ping Pong was hit by a car, so he’s disabled. But I kept him because he’s so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go into the fields to tend to my cattle. He’s loved by the entire village. It’s amazing he found the baby.”
