Brad Childs and Jonathan Plesset put their pilot licenses to good use when they flew their private plane to a high-kill shelter to rescue 12 adorable puppies who were going to be euthanized.
A couple of years ago they formed the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team. Their mission is to rescue dogs from kill-shelters and dog-fighting rings and fly them to safety in their private plane.
In this trip, they picked up these 12 puppies from a shelter in Charleston, West Virginia to bring them all the way to New York. This trip was paid for with a donation from fellow animal lover Rachael Ray.
Once they arrived in New York, the pups were taken off the plane in crates and brought to North Shore Animal League, a no-kill shelter on Long Island. They were examined by the veterinarian, bathed, groomed and put in a dryer.
It’s been a long trip for these pups, but it was worth every second of it!
