O’Connor’s last dog, Petey, had dementia and required a lot of care. Once he passed away, O’Connor was heartbroken and wanted to care for another dog again, so she instantly agreed to help Pez.
“I hadn’t even see her yet,” O’Connor told Honest To Paws. “[The dog] needed to have surgery in a specialized hospital, which was only 20 minutes from my house. The intention was to get her medically taken care of, then adopt her out. But I think I always knew I was going to keep her.”
