When a person decides to get a dog or any pet, it is a lifelong commitment. Dogs are loyal and would never leave your side. All they ask in return is that you love them the same and care for them when they need you.
Lately, more and more people are abandoning their dogs to the streets when they no longer want them.
Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) found a little dog wandering alone on the street in Providence with a huge tumor on his side. The rescuers were heartbroken that someone could just dump the sweet dog when he needed help. “Another day, another case of abandonment. Meet Pat. Pat was found in the vicinity of 401 Elmgrove Street in Providence on Saturday. He has a huge fatty like tumor on his left thoracic side,” posted the rescue.
They named the little dog Pat. He was taken to a local vet to have the tumor examined and treated. “This took a few years to get to this size. This abuse and neglect MUST STOP.” Pat was scheduled to have the tumor removed through surgery.
RISPCA posted an update for all the concerned followers after Pat’s surgery, “The large tumor and a smaller one were successfully removed plus a few decayed teeth.” They are optimistic that Pat will pull through and go on to find a loving home. However, he is not in the clear yet. “He will remain hospitalized for a few days and we hope things go well for him post operative.”
The RISPCA is offering a reward for help in finding the person responsible. “Anyone having information about this dog please contact us at 438-8150. $500.00 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who was responsible for this neglect.”
If you can no longer care for your pet, please contact your local animal shelter. Dumping them on the street is never the answer.
