This 7.5-year-old Corgi, named Panda, was stuck in a puppy mill with four of her siblings. The dogs were living in deplorable conditions.
They were locked in tiny wood cages with wired bottoms that were painful to stand on. They also had no access to food or water.
Poor Panda’s back legs didn’t work and were covered in wounds. She was knocking on death’s door with her wounds being so deeply infected, they went down to the bone. Luckily, she was rescued by Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue last September, and vets took care of her right away. Her back legs had to be amputated, but it actually allowed her to get around easier instead of dragging all of that dead weight behind her.
She has a wheelchair to help her get around and she warmed up so quickly to her new life at the rescue. She never had social interaction while she was living at the puppy mill, but ever since her rescue, she has learned to be so trusting of humans. She now knows there are people out there who want to help animals, not hurt them. Her resiliency is incredible and inspiring!
Sadly, there are still many dogs in puppy mills, and most aren’t as lucky as Panda was. Many spend their whole lives locked up, never knowing what it feels like to be a dog or knowing what it’s like to be loved. Luckily, Panda will get to experience both of those things for the rest of her life! Hopefully one day soon she will find her forever family!
