Check Your Treats! Another Recall Due To Salmonella!

On July 20th, the Natural Dog Company, Inc recalled its 12oz bags of 12” Tremenda Sticks pet chews because of a potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled 12″ Tremenda Sticks were distributed to retail stores in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Utah, and Washington.

The Tremenda Sticks pet chews that have been recalled come in a 12-ounce bag with UPC number 851265004957 but with no lot number or expiration date. Products with new packaging, which includes both a lot number and expiration date but the same UPC, are not affected by this recall.

Salmonella can affect both dogs and humans if the humans do not wash their hands properly after handling the dog treats. As of right now, there are no illnesses reported.

Symptoms of Salmonella in dogs are:

  • diarrhea
  • fever
  • vomiting
  • lethargic

Symptoms of Salmonella in humans are:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • fever
  • abdominal cramping

If you or your pet are experiencing any of these symptoms, contact your doctor or veterinarian immediately. Dogs can act as carriers for the disease and Salmonella can pass between dog and human.

Customers who purchased the recalled product are asked to discontinue use immediately and to contact the Natural Dog Company at 1-888-424-4602 in order to receive a full refund.
