Miranda Lambert, country star and animal lover, isn’t taking a break from making music or rescuing animals.
However, she is not alone in her pursuit of saving animals in need. Her love of rescuing animals appears to be rubbing off on her husband.
The musician was recently on a road trip in Texas with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, when they encountered a stray kitten in need of help.
Miranda shared the rescue story on her Instagram page and said, “Two lane highway in Texas, speed limit 70. Brendan slows down and does a U-turn.”
Surprised by the change in direction, Miranda asked Brendan, “why are you turning around?”, to which he replied, “there’s a kitten in the road and I knew you would kill me if I saw it and didn’t stop.”
She proudly wrote, “Well I guess the rescue ways are rubbing off on him.”
The couple saved the adorable ginger kitten with big blue eyes and named him Tequila. “He is 4-5 weeks old and weighs 14 Ounces,” said Miranda. Brendan and Miranda took some time to cuddle with the sweet kitten.
Instead of dropping Tequila off at a local shelter, they took him on their road trip back to Nashville. “This kitten rode 9 hours back to Nashville with us and 3 dogs and was such a champ.”

While they weren’t able to keep him, they found him a perfect forever home with Miranda’s parents. She wrote, “We stopped at mom and dads on the way home. Dad has a new bestie.” Tequila is pictured sleeping on her dad’s chest.
“Y’all welcome Tequila the kitten to the family!”
Miranda found inspiration for new music on the road and the couple is inspiring others with their kind hearts.

Sunday thoughts. When people ask me questions about all the traveling I’ve done , my answer is pretty much the same every time. “ I’ve been everywhere but I haven’t seen much of anything. “ I’ve been touring for 19 years and most times we just roll in , play our show , and roll to the next town. I’ve only gotten to spend some real time in a few of the places I’ve been. After spending these last few months at home ( a much needed break and time to nest❤️) I realized something. Just because I can’t travel and play shows doesn’t mean I can’t travel and make music. I have the most amazing travel companion, my husband , and we decided to add a family member. Y’all Meet “The Sheriff . “ A 2020 Airstream Globetrotter. ( thanks @rocketcityrv ) I’ve been a vintage trailer collector for years and this is my very first new one. I’m letting go of a few vintage to make room for adventure in this silver gem! I don’t like change but I’m learning to embrace it. Until I get get back on Elvira and tour, I’ll be pulling this rig all over the country. I know that seeing the world through the windshield again will bring creative vibes. #highwayvagabonds #livinlikehippies #BandMetour
Fans praised the couple for rescuing the kitten and for finding him a forever home. One person commented, “Just another reason I am your biggest fan! Rescue people rock!” Another said, “Awww, how lucky can one kitty be!!!! 🐾🐾You have a couple of good men in your life, Miranda!!”
Apparently, her parents are animal lovers too. Miranda started MuttNation Foundation with her mom to help shelter pets find loving homes and assist shelters during emergencies and disasters. Rescue pets are the best so please adopt don’t shop!
