Mama Cat Accepts Tiny Rescue Kitten As Her Own

When rescuers with the Austin Siamese Rescue found a tiny newborn kitten all by itself, they knew just what to do.

According to Broward.org, kittens under 4-weeks-old can’t survive without a mother, unless they receive around-the-clock bottle feedings.

The rescuers knew the kitten needed help immediately, but they knew they couldn’t fill-in for the love and care of a mother cat.

It just so happens that a mother cat was living at their Austin, Texas-based rescue with her own kittens. The kittens at the rescue were a little older than the newborn feline, but the rescuers decided to introduce the tiny new kitten to the mama and her babies and see what would happen.

The rescue shared the story in a video on TikTok and the little newborn kitten won the hearts of people around the world.

In the video, they talked about what happened when they introduced the tiny kitten to the mama and they said, “She immediately accepted him…He was so cold when we got him. But she knew what to do.”

They named the tiny kitten Shrimp and he fit right in with his new family and siblings. Check out the sweet video below:

Unfortunately, the rescue shared in an update that little Shrimp didn’t survive the night. They suspect there was something wrong with him that they didn’t recognize.

As some people pointed out in the comments though, little Shrimp passed away with his new mama and family that loved him. He was warm, fed, and comfortable, and there’s something to say for that.
