Meet Leanne Lauricella, a woman from New Jersey with a heart of gold! Leanne used to work as an event planner in New York City, but since leaving her job, Leanne has dedicated her life to rescuing baby goats. Her organization is called Goats of Anarchy and its’ mission is to save baby goats who would have otherwise been euthanized due to their disabilities.
The hardest challenge that Leanne has been faced with while helping these tiny goats is in the form of one baby with a hole in his heart. According to Leanne, a goat named Lawson, was her toughest case yet and she had to go to extreme lengths to save him. He was born with a hole in his heart that was so large veterinarians’ didn’t believe that he would live past a few weeks old. Leanne was told that the only way to save Lawson was for her to find a pediatric heart surgeon that would be willing to operate on a goat. This seemingly impossible task didn’t deter her. Leanne immediately went onto Instagram and posted a cry for help. Within just a few short hours, her cry had been answered. A pediatric surgeon was up to the task and if all goes according to plan, Lawson may become the first ever baby goat to have heart surgery.
Leanne does anything and everything she can to save these tiny goats. All the goats that she saves have a place to call home… in Leanne’s own home! She lets them have the run of her house and treats each baby goat as if they were her own children. The pure love and dedication that Leanne shows these special needs goats is absolutely astounding! And the best part about it is that, despite there being tons of tiny goats at Leanne’s home at any given time, these cute babies act just like siblings. They play together, they fight (and oh boy, do they fight), and they even cuddle with each other! These goats of all different breeds and all different disabilities don’t see or act as if there is something wrong with them. Instead, they accept each other for all their differences and have created their own wacky little family with Leanne as their momma.
