Koa the potbellied pig looks happy now, but his past was anything BUT happy. He was found by a good Samaritan in Ohio with bloody wounds all over his body, which made it obvious that he was beaten and left for dead. The person tried to help Koa, but he got scared and ran into the woods.
Volunteers from Sunrise Sanctuary and PETA worked together to find Koa. They searched the woods all night long until they finally found him. They then rushed him to Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital for immediate medical attention.
Sadly, one of Koa’s ears was so badly damaged, surgeons had to remove it. But thankfully, his surgery went well and he began his recovery. While he was healing at Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, something amazing happened. A local family from Medina, Ohio, heard about Koa’s sad story and wanted to give him a forever home!
Today, Koa is enjoying life at his new home with his human siblings, Sophie and Miles, who are head over heels in love with their adorable new piggy brother. They are always snuggling with each other on the couch, and have a blast playing with each other outside.
If it weren’t for Koa’s rescuers, Koa would not have survived the torture that he had been put through. And if it weren’t for this family, he might never have felt this incredible love that he now gets to feel for the rest of his life!
