Grandpa Covertly Raises Kittens In Shed After His Wife Says ‘No’ To Fostering Cats

Jimmy isn’t your average 85-year-old gentleman. He has a huge heart with a soft spot for animals. When a hoard of stray cats made their way to Jimmy’s neighborhood in Puerto Rico, he wanted to do anything he could to help them. Unfortunately, his wife was not thrilled with the idea.

“My grandpa felt for the stray cats and would leave food in the back of the house near his tool shed, a spot where my grandma doesn’t go,” Jimmy’s granddaughter, Syl, told The Dodo. “This particular cat was especially friendly and got attached to my grandpa.”

As it turned out, Jimmy’s new cat friend turned out to be pregnant, drawing this kind-hearted grandfather in even deeper. Jimmy asked his wife, again, if the pregnant cat could stay with them but, once again, his wife said ‘no.’ So Jimmy went ahead and made a little home for the soon-to-be-cat-mom in their shed, knowing his wife rarely went out to there anyway.

When Syl learned about her grandfather’s secret stash of a momma cat and her newborn kittens, she wasn’t that surprised. “My grandpa is really kind and has always loved animals,” Syl said. “So it’s not really that surprising.”

The mom cat gave birth to a litter of adorable, healthy kittens and, of course, the entire crew became attached to Jimmy. But in spite of his furtiveness, Jimmy’s wife did find out about his hidden furry family 3 weeks after the kittens were born. Thankfully, she wasn’t that upset. It was probably their sweet, furry faces, looking up at her that changed her mind!

Jimmy’s wife accepted the furry family and let them stay in the cozy shed until the kittens were old enough to find forever homes. Judging from this adorable photo, her husband’s heartwarming deception seems to have reminded her why she fell in love with him in the first place!
