Over 90 Homeless Dogs & Cats Have Landed In Wisconsin To Start Their New Lives

2024 is off to a great start, thanks to your support.

Over 90 shelter pets left overcrowded shelters in Louisiana and Alabama and boarded our Flight to Freedom in the early morning hours of January 16.

Mother Nature made this transport difficult with the freezing temperatures and winter weather, but thanks to dedicated staff and volunteers it was a success.

Shelter staff from the southern shelters slept in a conference room near the airport with the pet passengers to ensure they made the flight.

They arrived in snowy Wisconsin where they were greeted by staff and volunteers from the receiving shelters who didn’t let the winter conditions keep them away.

All the dogs and cats were transported in warm vehicles back to the shelter and will soon be up for adoption. The sweet cross-eyed dog named Honey Baby who has been patiently waiting for his special someone was taken in by Humane Animal Welfare Society and is sure to find a home soon.

Several other local shelters took in dozens of pets and are working on getting them posted for adoption. Washington County Humane Society shared with their followers on Facebook that some of the new pets would be available today.

“The weather has put a pause on many things these past few days, but not our #TransportTuesday! 16 dogs from Louisiana and Alabama arrived by plane yesterday thanks to Greater Good Charities’ Good Flights. Partner shelters and rescues were able to unload the plane in the heated hangar. Many of the dogs will be available for adoption starting today at 1pm, with the rest following in the next few days!”

Check out Elmbrook Humane Society, Humane Society of Jefferson County (WI), and Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin to learn how to adopt passengers on the flight.

There are many more shelter pets waiting for their ticket to freedom. Help us fly even more homeless dogs and cats to forever homes by donating towards next month’s flight.

Just $5 helps cover the fuel costs of flying a pet 125 miles towards safety. Together we CAN change the world.
