Heroes often rise up out of tragic events. One Harris County man became a hero as Tropical Storm Imelda flooded the Texas area and animals became in danger of drowning. This heroic man put his own life at risk in order to save several stranded animals, spending hours rescuing these helpless animals.
The video footage was caught in the man’s neighbourhood of Kingswood, where the floodwaters reached the roofline of most homes.
While the people had been safely evacuated, the animals weren’t as lucky. As the screeching sounds of drowning animals got worse, the man couldn’t stand by and do nothing. So, he went on to rescue them, braving the waist-deep floodwaters.
In the video, the man can be seen struggling through the heavy floodwaters, carrying a baby goat to safety. It is so upsetting to hear the poor traumatized goat scream helplessly following his ordeal. This brave man ventured into the flood several times until he managed to save all the stranded animals.
The man’s neighbor later stated that the man himself had been hit pretty hard by the flood. His house had been previously damaged by Hurricane Harvey. He had just finished renovations when the current floods ruined all the fixes he’d done. That is quite sad news to hear.
But we can’t help but have pure respect and admiration for the man for his kindness in rescuing all those animals. He’s the definition of a true hero.

.. We’ve watched this man make repeated trips back to his flooded home to retrieve animals. This is a baby goat, as you can hear. The water is about half-way up his home. A neighbor says they just renovated from previous flood damage #khou11 #htownrush #Imelda @KHOU pic.twitter.com/1tkgcAnZWu
