If you ever find yourself visiting Queenstown, New Zealand, you might just be lucky enough to catch a performance from its famous four-legged resident.
Meet Happy the sheepdog, the resort town’s unofficial mascot and one of the cutest buskers you’ll ever see. This aptly-named pup loves “singing” alongside his dad, Kim Huia, who can often be found jamming with his guitar in the streets.
Kim says he used to be a solo street performer but had to rethink it after Happy became destructive when left at home. He decided to bring the dog to work with him and soon learned the pup had a knack for howling along to any song he played. They’ve performed together ever since, bringing smiles to countless faces.
As you’d imagine, there are many videos of the busking duo circulating on the web — one of which was recorded by a woman named Dianna Marie, who recently shared the footage to the Dogspotting Facebook group.

In the video, we see the pair lost in their own world as passersby watch and record. Kim’s furry backup singer howls his heart out to the music, clearly content to be wherever his dad is.
The adorable dog continues to capture hearts in person and online. Many viewers chimed in to say they’d watched the pair themselves during trips to New Zealand. Others called them “the best thing about Qtown” and rated their song “10/10, great harmonizing.” We can’t argue with that!
Aren’t these two the sweetest? We could listen to them all day. In fact, they’re enough to make us want to book a flight to New Zealand immediately.
You can find more of Happy and Kim’s performances on their Facebook page, but in the meantime, just try not to smile as you watch their jam session in the clip below. Share with other animal lovers to brighten their days as well.
