Sadly, the influenza epidemic has not receded, in fact, it is now spreading out across the Midwest and into the Southern US. Ohio, Atlanta, Alabama, California, Texas, Massachusetts, New York, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, Indiana, and Iowa all have confirmed cases of the flu. The case in Ohio is a new strain of the flu, which could mean a more dangerous situation for our pets. If you want to check for cases in your state, you can check out this report from Cornell University’s Animal Health Diagnostic Center. Remember, canine flu symptoms are similar to human flu symptoms, which can include fever, coughing, nasal discharge, and a severe lack of energy.
