Believe it or not but your dog could be the best stress reliever around. Research has shown that pet owners and pets have an increase of oxytocin in their veins after being around each other and even after a session of petting.
“Oxytocin is a hormone secreted by posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, a pea-sized structure at the base of the brain,” reports LiveScience. “It’s sometimes known as the “cuddle hormone” because it is released when people snuggle up or bond socially.”
