“(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window”: Classic Song Changes Tune

Back before “viral videos” and the internet, traditional pop-singer Patti Page recorded the hit single “(How Much Is That) Doggy in the Window.” By her own admission, it seemed like a harmless children’s song at the time, invoking the doe-eyed puppies found at the corner pet shop.

Fifty years later, Patti (quite literally) changed her tune. With the majority of pet stores relying on puppy mills, Patti’s new lyrics encourage listeners to look to shelter animals instead, and she even includes a shout out for homeless cats as well.

The updated song reflects the growing consciousness surrounding the deceitful practices puppy mills rely on to peddle their cruel product. Join the conversation. Sign the pledge to put puppy mills out of business.
