These horses were lying down for a nap and gently snoring, just like a human, while in a deep sleep. Their ears and nostrils were twitching and they seemed so relaxed. This can be compared to the REM phase of sleep in humans. But not only were they in a deep slumber, they were snoring! When the camera gets closer to them, you can hear the sounds they make and it’s so cute!
Most horses sleep standing as their legs will support their weight, but there are always exceptions as you can see here. Unlike humans, adult horses sleep for about three hours each 24-hour period. Foals sleep for longer, about half the day, until they get older. I wonder what these guys are dreaming about?!
