Despite Years of Maltreatment and Dog Fights, Honey is Sweet on Her Rescuer!

In 2011, HSUS and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department raided a “significant” dogfighting ring in Gary, Indiana. As a result, twenty dogs were rescued from horrible conditions. Honey is one of those dogs.

This poor pup, who showed untreated wounds, likely from a fight with another dog, had been “retired” and was being used to breed more fighters.

When HSUS’s Chris Schindler found Honey, it was clear that her owners didn’t know how to treat her — she was terrified, malnourished, and alone. But as soon as she realized that Chris was there to help, her affect changed completely.
