Over 45 dogs and cats were taken from overcrowded shelters and boarded a plane in New Orleans to start the next chapter of their lives.

The staff who helped care for the shelter pets made sure they were safely on the plane and waved goodbye as they lifted off.

Many were at risk of euthanasia due to the lack of space and adopters. They all wanted the same thing for the holidays – a forever home.

The Home for the Holidays Flight to Freedom landed in Wisconsin on Monday where staff and volunteers from the receiving shelters were waiting to greet the animals. They were carefully transported back to the shelters to settle in before being placed up for adoption.

This special flight also marked Greater Good Charities’ Good Flight’s 200th transport and over 12,000 pets saved. Frisco was the lucky dog who was the 12,000th passenger and he couldn’t be happier to be in Wisconsin.

As you can see from the photos from Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), Frisco is doing well and has already picked out a new toy to play with. He has made friends with everyone he was met and is sure to find a loving home soon.
