When Henry was found chained up in a tunnel in China, rescuers weren’t sure what breed of dog he was.
He was incredibly thin and covered in mud, scared and exhausted. But things were about to change for Henry when Amadna with Buddies Bunny’s heard about him.
As she shared in an interview with The Dodo, she got Henry to the vet and they immediately started treating him.
Not only was the golden retriever suffering physically, but he was afraid of humans and didn’t know how to be a dog.
Henry stayed with Amanda, and over the course of six months, she worked on building trust with him and teaching him basic dog skills – like playing fetch, enjoying pets, and eating dog food regularly. He was really starting to look and act like a whole new dog!
After another six months, Henry was ready to move on and find his forever home. It took about a full year of therapy, training, and love, but he was ready for the next chapter in his life, and that came from a family in North Carolina.
Lindsay and Brandon had Henry transported from China to North Carolina where he joined them and their other dogs. It’s hard to believe he’s the same dog found chained up and starving just a year earlier.
Now, Henry is the biggest goofball and lives life playfully with a smile on his face! He absolutely loves his family and enjoys snuggling, getting belly rubs, and running around in the yard.
