Having a chronic illness isn’t foreign to me. I’m a brain tumor survivor, and before my brain surgery, I suffered from seizures on a daily basis. My service dog was my lifeline! Being sick is hard enough, adding the stressors of everyday life can really be overwhelming.
Without the help of service dogs, many people are forced to stay at home, living in isolation. And even home life is nearly impossible to manage without a caregiver. Meet the duo Harlow and Jaquie. Harlow is making life a little more manageable for his human by helping with everyday tasks… like laundry! And making trips to the kitchen and retrieving water bottles! Pretty amazing stuff!
Some people, through no fault of their own, don’t realize how lethargic and weak one can get from being chronically ill. Doing everyday tasks becomes incredibly difficult. It’s so hard to explain something that you feel and don’t really see. But having an extra set of “paws” is a HUGE help! Harlow and the rest of the service animals out there, including mine, thank you for all that you do!
Julie resides in Northern New Jersey with her two kids, two dogs, cat and partner. She has two published books which make excellent trivets if you aren't a fan of poetry. She tolerates people but LOVES animals. If she isn't blogging, she's most likely cuddling with her pups, Paisley and Skyler.
