Does Your Dog Sniff Longingly And Hang Out In The Kitchen When You Bake? He’s Going To Love This! The Animal Rescue Site
These tasty gingerbread dog treats are perfect for the holidays, or any other occasion that involves pampering your dog. They freeze well, and make the house smell like heaven!
Before you begin, you’ll need:
3 c. whole wheat flour
2 tbsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil
Preheat your oven to 325°.
Get out a big mixing bowl, a whisk, and a sturdy wooden spoon for this one! You’re going to whisk the flour and spices together in your mixing bowl. In a small bowl, stir together the molasses, water, and canola oil.
Then combine the wet ingredients with the dry, and use some of that muscle to bring them together into a nice stiff dough. Don’t worry, it’s supposed to be a little bit hard to stir – you’re doing great!
Now for the fun! On a floured surface, roll that dough out to about 1/2 an inch thick. Then, haul out your favorite cookie cutters. (Hint – they should be roughly the same size, or cooking time will vary.) Cut your doggie biscuits out into beautiful shapes, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake ’em. Should take about 20 minutes. As always, cool completely before letting your dog try one, and remember, these are treats (kind of like cookies!), not regular food. Don’t be surprised if he follows at your heels for the rest of the day, begging for another!
